Woman Killed in Talmadge As Driver Runs Her Down, Flees Scene

A woman died Friday evening in Talmadge after a hit-and-run driver struck her as she tried to cross the street.

The unknown driver fled eastbound from the site of the collision, in the 5000 block of El Cajon Boulevard at about 7:19 p.m., according to OnScene.TV.

Authorities attempted CPR on the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

San Diego police officers blocked the boulevard in both directions from Winona Avenue to Altadena Avenue as the investigation continued.

The department said in a Twitter post that investigators expected the closure to last several hours.
