Police are investigating the shooting death just after midnight Tuesday of a woman in her 50s near the Pacific Beach boardwalk.
San Diego Police officers responded to reports of shots fired and found bystanders attempting to help a woman suffering from gunshot wounds in the 700 block of Reed Avenue around 12:30 a.m.
An officer at the scene said the woman was found on the sand with wounds to her upper body.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where she died.
No suspects have been identified and the investigation was ongoing Tuesday morning.
