A 64-year-old man who may have been suffering a medical crisis crashed a van off a Tierrasanta-area thoroughfare and died Monday, authorities said.
The man lost control of the 2017 Nissan NV200 while headed west in the 10100 block of Tierrasanta Boulevard shortly after 10:30 a.m., according to the San Diego Police Department.
The vehicle veered off the northern side of the roadway just east of Interstate 15 and spun out, coming to rest on a sidewalk next to an embankment.
Paramedics took the unresponsive driver to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identify was withheld pending family notification.
The cause of the fatal wreck was under investigation, though it “did appear the (driver) suffered a medical event” prior to the crash, SDPD Officer Lawanda Fisher said.
