A woman who allegedly drove under the influence of drugs injured a San Diego police officer Monday after striking the lawman’s patrol car in Mission Valley, authorities said.
The 47-year-old driver, whose name was not released, struck the officer’s car at around 4:30 a.m. in the 9600 block of Friars Road, according to a San Diego Police Department watch commander’s log.
The officer, who was impounding another vehicle at the time, was leaning into his patrol car when the woman allegedly struck it from behind with her 2013 Range Rover while heading westbound on Friars Road.
The impact caused the officer to be struck by the “B” pillar of his patrol car. The officer’s car also struck another vehicle.
The officer lost consciousness, and suffered a laceration and other minor injuries, while the woman was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI drugs, the watch commander’s log states.
