XTRA 1360 moved from its old radio slot to 760 AM on the dial Thursday and rebranded as San Diego Sports 760, with the same lineup and a greater reach.
“We are committed to delivering an audio sports platform with massive reach for our listeners and partners,” said Noreen Ippolito, President of iHeartMedia’s San Diego/Riverside region said in a statement. “Our goal is to reach fans wherever they are through the iHeartRadio app, KGB-FM HD2 simulcast, and on 760 AM’s massive day and night-time signal which can be heard all over the west coast.”
The show lineup, as of Thursday:
- 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. – Big Rich, TD & Fletch
- 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. – The Herd with Colin Cowherd
- 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. – Darren Smith and Marty
- 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Jon & Jim
- 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. – FOX Sports Radio
Because of the change, San Diego State athletics will have a new radio home at San Diego Sports 760 – which calls itself “America’s Finest Sport Station,” echoing the city’s nickname, “America’s Finest City.”
SDSU has been part of the station’s history since 1972.
Ted Leitner will continue his play-by-play responsibilities for Aztecs football and basketball. The Oklahoma State graduate, one of the most recognizable media figures in San Diego, has been a part of the San Diego State scene as far back as 1978, and also has served as the voice of the Padres nd the former San Diego Chargers.
Rich Ohrnberger retains his color commentary duties on football broadcasts. The morning show host on San Diego Sports 760 is entering his sixth season as color analyst on the Aztec Radio Network. Ohrnberger played in the NFL for five years.
SDSU’s football gameday personalities include Mike Costa, who will continue in his role as sideline reporter for Aztec home games, while Jon Schaeffer will host the two-hour pregame show, along with former SDSU standout wide receiver J.R. Tolver, who played from 1999-2002. Schaffer also hosts the Aztec halftime show and postgame wrap-up.
The first San Diego State football broadcast is Saturday, when the Aztecs open the 2022 campaign, playing host to Arizona in the inaugural game at Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley.
