Nonprofits Awarded Grants to Support Mentorship, Math Programs for Disadvantaged Children

Four San Diego County nonprofits benefitting children have received more than $16,000 from the Sundt Foundation, officials announced.

The recipients:

• San Diego Center for Children serves over 200 children with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders annually. The $4,900 in grant funds will be used to support the organization’s math program, which identifies students performing below grade level.
• Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County received $4,800 to help continue its mentorship program for struggling youth, including essential training for staff and volunteers.
• The New Children’s Museum will use its $3,500 grant to provide a quieter, less chaotic museum experience for children and families who may have sensory differences. Plans include mornings set aside for these families, a breathing room and sensory friendly guide.
• The Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside received a $3,000 grant to support after-school programming that focuses on combatting post-pandemic academic needs through experience-based learning.

“It is inspiring to see how all four nonprofits are making a difference in the community for the better,” said Ryan Nessen, the Sundt Foundation’s San Diego region board member. “Through the foundation, Sundt employee-owners can help to support these causes and be a part of the difference they are making.”

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local San Diego-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process.
