San Diego County public health officials on Thursday reported 2,402 new COVID-19 cases over the prior week, along with four more deaths.
The count covers cases over the seven-day period that ended Monday. The number of daily cases reported over that time:
- Monday – 290
- Sunday – 173
- Saturday –308
- Friday – 375
- Sept. 22 – 401
- Sept. 21 – 430
- Sept. 20 – 425
The numbers dropped from the 2,634 cases recorded the prior week.
With the update, there have been 922,131 total COVID cases in the county and 5,491 deaths since the pandemic began in early 2020.
Of the four additional deaths, two victims were women and two were men. They died between Sept. 14 and Sept. 19.
Three of the people who died were 80 years or older and one was in the 70s. Three were fully vaccinated and one was unvaccinated and all had underlying medical conditions.
Meanwhile, 201 patients are being treated in county hospitals for COVID, up from Sunday’s count of 196. Doctors admitted 19 to intensive care, according to state data, down from 25 on Sunday.
The county Health and Human Services Agency last issued a report Sept. 22. Officials decided to shift to weekly reporting as pandemic numbers have eased.
