Authorities have publicly identified a teenage motorcyclist who was killed over the weekend in a collision at a desert-road-riding site in the far eastern reaches of the San Diego area.
Ruben Gutierrez, 18, was heading east on Shell Reef Expressway north of Ocotillo Wells Airport in Borrego Springs when his two-wheeler crashed into an oncoming pickup truck about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
Gutierrez, a resident of Mexico, died at the scene of the accident.
No other injuries were reported.
