In the autumn of 2020, Mercedes launched a new strategy, which sees the further development of the Maybach, AMG, and G-Class sub-brands and their electrification. Thus, in addition to the new electric Mercedes EQG planned for 2025 and the electrified rear axle on the sports sedan Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance (P3 Hybrid system) and Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance, Mercedes is also preparing the first electric Maybach.
It will be based on the Mercedes EQS SUV, unveiled this autumn, and will be available from spring 2024.
A concept of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV was shown at the Munich Mobility Show in the autumn 2021, and Mercedes promised then that the concept shown is very close to the future production model.
The youtube channel walkoart shows the first photos of the first Maybach electric SUV. However, Mercedes didn’t want to draw too much attention with the prototype of this upcoming Maybach because the body is not painted in two colors and the wheels are stock from the standard EQS SUV.
The front part is camouflaged to hide the typical Maybach radiator grille.
As with the Mercedes EQS 580 4Matic SUV, the Hyperscreen will be standard, and there will be a two-individual seat configuration in the rear. We expect the model to be called the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 600 4Matic, having the large 107.8 kWh net capacity battery from the EQS 580 4Matic that will power the two electric motors, one on each axle. The power output of the two motors has not been announced either, but it will undoubtedly be slightly higher than the Mercedes EQS 580 4Matic SUV, which develops 544 ps (536 hp).
On the other hand, being a super-luxury model, it should have a decent range, and Mercedes has promised it will offer a WLTP range of over 600 km (373 miles).
