The Mercedes-AMG GT 2023 has been caught in its final tests at the Nurburgring ahead of its official debut in 2023.

First of all we have to note the much more pleasant sound of the engine, which sounds better than the former generation but also better than the Black Series version.

Secondly, we notice the sleeker proportions of the car which has a slightly shorter bonnet and a 2+2 seating configuration just like the AMG SL, in order to compete with the Porsche 911 GTS and Turbo.

The new Mercedes-AMG GT is built on the MSA platform (Modular Sports Architecture) and will only be offered as a coupe as the current GTC convertible version has been replaced by the new Mercedes-AMG SL.

It seems that the new Mercedes-AMG GT will be the last Mercedes-AMG to get a V8 engine. The V8 powertrains will be taken over from AMG SL and we expect also a more powerful version to compete up against Porsche 911 Turbo S. There is no information about a possible AMG GT hybrid, while Porsche has already announced that it will offer a high-performance 911 hybrid.

The spoiler has a new design and from what can be seen in the youtube video it also has a more angled position probably for more downforce on the rear axle in Sport Plus mode. The rear lamps are thinner in line with the new Mercedes design trends. The prototype is still heavily masked and the headlamps design is not very clear, but probably they will be thinner too while the radiator grille is clearly visible and is totally changed from the current generation. Thus, there is no longer a lower grille separated from the main one, but a single, taller radiator grille.
