Harrison Ford has found his next franchise. The 80-year-old actor is taking his talents to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play General Ross, previously portrayed by the late William Hurt, sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
The “Raiders of the Lost Ark” star will appear as Ross in Captain America: New World Order, which will see Anthony Mackie reprise his Marvel character, Sam Wilson. Julius Onah, who previously helmed The Cloverfield Paradox, is set to direct.
Ford will also reportedly appear in “Thunderbolts,” a Marvel film about a team of supervillains, which will be directed by Jake Schreier.
Reports that the Star Wars actor was set to join the MCU began to circulate late last week.

Jeff Sneider shared the news on Twitter, and it was also reported by /Film, claiming that Ford’s character will be introduced in the next “Captain America” movie before appearing in an upcoming “Thunderbolts” film.

Gen. Ross was previously played in the MCU by actor William Hurt, who passed away earlier this year. He had first appeared in 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk”, and went on to make appearances in “Captain America: Civil War”, “Avengers: Infinity War”, “Avengers: Endgame” and “Black Widow”.

In the comics, Ross heads up the antihero team known as the Thunderbolts. He has also been depicted as turning into the Red Hulk.
“Captain America: New World Order” is set to be released in cinemas on May 3, 2024, while “Thunderbolts” is currently scheduled to hit theatres July 26, 2024.
