Warm temperatures and dry conditions will persist through much of this week, with notable heating for areas west of the mountains on Friday and Saturday.
Increasing moisture this weekend will lead to chances for thunderstorms Saturday through next Monday, with the highest probabilities occurring on Sunday, the National Weather Service said.
High temperatures along the coast Wednesday are predicted to reach the mid-70s, lower 80s in the western valleys, upper 80s near the foothills, mid-80s in the mountains and around 100 in the deserts, according to the weather agency.
Areas of night and morning coastal low clouds will spread inland into the western valleys at times.
Meteorologists expect the weather to cool Sunday through early next week.
