San Diego Police Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that happened in Mira Mesa on Oct. 5, and left an 18- year-old man dead.

Officers from the Northeastern Division were called to the 10900 block of Deering Street and discovered the 18-year-old man in the street in front of his residence. He had at least one gunshot wound, police said, and after officers and paramedics rendered life-saving measures, he died at the scene.

He has been identified as Brian Mendoza-Camacho.

Detectives are gathering information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including a motivation and any interactions between the victim and suspect or suspects.

Police said there is no information about the suspect or suspects. They are looking to interview potential witnesses to the shooting or evidence connected to the shooting.
