Bomb Threat Reported at Religious School; Nothing Found

A bomb threat was called into a private religious school on Wednesday afternoon just as classes were ending, the county Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.

According to a Sheriff’s Department news release, at 2:45 p.m., staff at Tri City Christian School “received a call from someone claiming to have a bomb and threatening to blow up the school.”

At the time, students were leaving the campus and school officials activated safety protocols and called the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies arrived on campus to investigate the threat, while the students were moved to a safe area where they could be picked up.

A search of the campus found no devices, and deputies determined it to be safe, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

No injuries were reported, “and all children were accounted for and united with their families,” sheriff’s officials said.

According to the sheriff’s Watch Commander’s office, the incident may have been a “swatting,” where someone makes a prank call to emergency services with the goal of sending a large number of armed law enforcement officers to a particular address.
