Make sure you check out the following advisories, issues, and closures at area beaches before heading into the surf or to simply cool off.

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality issued the following important beach management actions on Friday.

New Beach Management Actions:

Bayside Park at J Street in Chula Vista – Closure

A closure has been issued for Bayside Park at J Street in Chula Vista as a result of a confirmed sewage spill in the Sweetwater Channel. Avoid water contact in the closure area due to sewage impacts.

Crown Cove on Silver Strand Bayside – Open

DEHQ is lifting the closure for Crown Cove on Silver Strand Bayside. Recent water quality samples meet CA health standards.

On-going Beach Management Actions:

Tidelands Park in Coronado and Children’s Pool in La Jolla – Advisory

The above beaches remain under advisory. Beach goers are advised that bacteria levels have exceeded CA health standards and may cause illness.

Imperial Beach Shoreline – Warning

The Imperial Beach Shoreline remains under warning. South swells conditions are present and pushing ocean waters from the south to the north (transboundary flows). Beachgoers are advised that bacteria levels exceed CA health standards and ocean waters may contain sewage and may cause illness.

Tijuana Slough Shoreline – Closure

The ocean shoreline from the International Border to the south end of Seacoast Drive will remain closed until sampling confirms these areas are safe for water contact.
